Richie has been training in the martial arts most of his life. He began Kenpo during his teenage years. After joining the military he learned Gracie Jiu-Jitsu when the Gracies would train his unit. After leaving the Army he studied Shotokan, Judo, and Aikido. Upon earning his Black Belt in Aikido he devoted his time to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He earned his purple belt under U.S. Army Combatives Black Belt, the late Pedro Lacerda. He earned his Brown Belt under World Champion Black Belt Samuel Braga. Richie has cross trained in boxing and Muy Thai. He has been fortunate to spend time at various camps, including Greg Jackson's, Extreme Couture, Wanderlai Silva's and American Top Team. He is a Crossfit Kettle Bell Instructor and Tactical Athlete Instructor. He is also a current conditioning coach and writes programs for people around the country.
