Jiu-Jitsu is improving lives in many ways

Luke dad's wrote us a history about his son and How blessed became after starting Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

"My son Luke was born with hypotonia also known as, Cerebral Palsy. He wore a sleep monitor every night the first year of his life to wake us if his lungs collapsed. As he got older, he wore AFO's which are commonly referred to as leg braces. We were told by the doctors that he would most likely wear them the rest of his life.

My oldest son, who lives in NY, has been studying Jiu-jitsu for years. When Luke turned 6, he surprised my wife and me by asking to learn Jiu-jitsu. The treatment for most children with hypotonia is horseback riding; this helps to strengthen their core muscles. Luke doing Jiu-jitsu was scary. I had always play wrestled with him and he felt like a rag doll with no tone, we definitely had our concerns.

God answered our prayers by both healing Luke and miraculously leading us to Samuel Braga, a six time world champion. Samuel has tremendously helped build Luke's strength and endurance by grappling on the ground, guard, mount, pulling, gripping, running, jumping, etc. I could see month by month Luke getting stronger and more confident. Six months later, Luke was able to take off his braces and throw them in the garbage at Samuel's school and is getting around perfectly fine. Just in time for the summer, when kids would notice Luke's braces and make comments."

I am 60 years old and have joined Samuel's adult classes. It is one of the best workouts I have ever had and I was a former professional kick boxer. Now, when I grapple with my son, I can feel his strength and speed, which he never had. I want to thank Samuel Braga for being a caring and considerate teacher, my wife and I highly recommend training at the Knoxville Gracie Barra Academy.
